What is Invisalign?

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign system consists of a series of aligners, that are worn for 7-14 days each, depending on your case. In order to create this seried of aligners, that will move your teeth, a digital impression is needed. At Archer Dental Chicago, our Invisalign dentist uses the iTero Scanner, best intramural scanner for Invisalign. After the scan, your Invisalign dentist will plan your treatment, design your aligners and send digital information to the lab, when aligners will be 3D printed. The aligners are made out of a special thermoplastic material. Invisalign aligners are durable and strong, but at the same time flexible in order to be comfortable when worn for long periods of time. The material is translucent and barely noticeable on the teeth.
Invisalign aligners are meant be worn for 22 hours a day to reach maximum effect. You will have several aligners from the sequence, so that in 2 weeks you can wear the next set of aligners. Throughout the treatment, aligners will gradually move your teeth into place. Once you are done wearing your aligners, your teeth should be perfectly straight.
